When Beaufort blossoms into a stage of color and excitement during the middle of summer, it’s time for the Beaufort Water Festival — an annual event that unites the Lowcountry community like no other. Beginning in July 1956, the Beaufort Water Festival has grown in both importance and entertainment value, yet it remains a community-driven, non-profit project. This year, the festival begins on July 14 and ends on July 23. From the parade led by the dedicated Lions Club to the visiting queens who grace the festival with their presence, the spirit of camaraderie and celebration permeates every corner.
